Budgeting Process Development and Implementation
First Americans Museum
I was tasked with developing and implementing the first budget process at First Americans Museum (FY27 $9.5M) . With the careful leadership of the Executive Director, I created and documented the process, then launched a multi-media package of learning materials to ensure smooth implementation. Development required the translation of spreadsheet data to our financial software, as well as creating personalized tools unique to our organization. Through these tools, I coordinated intake of financial data from 23 departments, 191 projects, and 278 unique account revenue/expense codes. For the first time in the institution's operational history, all financial activity was united under one approval process, allowing leadership to make informed decisions that center the long-term sustainability of FAM.
I recognize the importance of making learning materials accessible to all learning preferences. For this reason, I utilize visual aids, video tutorials, written manuals, in-person presentations, and weekly office hours to ensure that the budget process serves everyone, and that all voices are heard in the process.

Any fundraiser knows that we tend to spend more time reporting and accounting than we do talking to funders. That's because nothing raises money like reliable data, compliance, and processes that speed up deliverables. When I arrived at FAM, there were no grant writers or coordinators. I stepped in to develop a process for grant intake and reporting that would support an annual grant revenue goal of $1M. I led the implementation of internal controls and processes that comply with the Uniform Guidance and audit requirements (Grants Handbook), as well as the development of the CRM software Hubspot.
As a part of the annual budget process, I created the Project Proposal Forms to deliver standard project narratives to the development team as soon as the project is approved. I set up a flow between Hubspot and our financial software to ensure that receivable data was accurately recorded for our annual fiscal year turnover and accrual accounting standards. Since we implemented these processes, Development has exceeded grant revenue goals for three years in a row.

Generation Conscious
Using assets designed by our student workers, I created and implemented a series of media kits and coalition guides for Generation Conscious, a climate-tech startup focusing on waste reduction on college campuses throughout the United States. In this role, I managed over 50 students across the country to help them petition to their schools to install zero-waste laundry detergent machines on their campus. The revenue from the school's purchase was used to employ first-generation students to maintain the machines. Using these materials, we grew from 5 to 20 school partners over one year.
